Site Engineer / Setting out Engineer / Civil Engineer
Our Client is looking for an experienced Senior Setting-Out Engineer / Site Engineer to work in the Cambridge area. You must have a strong groundworks background and be able to work within a fast paced environment within timescales expected. You must have experience of using Viva or equivalent and be able to use AutoCAD. The position of the Setting-Out Engineer involves covering sites in the Cambridge area and a van for work use, phone and laptop is provided.
Site Engineer / Setting out Engineer Main Duties
Acting as the main technical adviser on a construction site.
Setting out, levelling and surveying the site.
Checking plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy of calculations.
Ensuring that all materials used and work performed are set as per specifications.
Overseeing the selection and requisition of materials and plant.
Agreeing a price for materials and making cost-effective solutions and proposals for the intended project.
Managing, monitoring and interpreting the contract design documents.
Liaising with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project.
Liaising with the local authority (where appropriate to the project) to ensure compliance with local construction regulations and by-laws.
Communicating with clients and their representatives (architects, engineers and surveyors), including attending regular meetings to keep them informed of progress.
Day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site labour force and the work of any subcontractors.
Planning the work and efficiently organising the plant and site facilities in order to meet agreed deadlines.
Ensuring projects meet agreed specifications, budgets or timescales.
Overseeing quality control and health and safety matters on site.
Preparing reports as required and filling in any other required paperwork.
Resolving any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
Site Engineer / Setting out Engineer Skills & Experience
– SMSTS certificate is desirable.
– 5 years + experience of being a Site Engineer.
Relevant construction related level 4 and above qualification (HNC/NVQ) degree qualified preferred.
Appropriate CSCS card.
Valid Driving Licence
First Aid at Work certificate is desirable.
Fire Marshall Certificate is desirable.
Membership or working towards MCIOB or RICS is desirable
Must have a solid groundwork's background foundations, piles, rebar, drainage, kerbing and hard landscaping.
Able to set up site control and base stations.
Able to use robotics – Leica TS 16.
Plotting data and as built surveys using Autocad.
Uploading/downloading all survey date from/to instrument.
Proficient user of Autocad.
GPS Install – knowledge of this is an advantage, but training can be arranged.
Assistance in QA procedures and operations.
Self-motivated with the ability to work alone or within a team.
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
Good organisation skills and attention to detail.
PLEASE NOTE – these responsibilities are not exhaustive and you should undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by the Company.
As an experienced Site Engineer / Setting out Engineer You must be self motivated and have the relevant qualifications required within this important role. This is a permanent position and starts asap. Salary dependent on experience in the region of 38-50k per annum plus van for company use.
